B&W Site Redevelopment

Port Lane, Colchester

Ardent was appointed by Bellway Homes to advise on transport and Infrastructure planning/engineering issues relating to the proposed redevelopment of this constrained Brownfield site to the east of Colchester town centre for a mix of uses, comprising of around 250 residential units.

The scope of work undertaken included:

  • Evaluation of options to provide vehicle and pedestrian/cycle access to the development, considering the various constraints, resulting in agreement being reached with Essex County and Colchester Borough Councils.
  • Input into the internal scheme layout design in accordance with the Essex Design Guide, including detailed alignment design of access junctions and estate roads.
  • Design of foul and surface water drainage and preparation of a Drainage Strategy and Flood Risk Assessment.
  • Preparation of a Transport Assessment to support the planning application submission.
  • Co-ordination and delivery of strategic utility services, Geo-environmental review and Remediation Strategy.
