Travel Plans

We prepare Travel Plans to consider the following new development proposals:

The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) requires Travel Plans to be submitted alongside planning applications for major developments.  Such documents complement Transport Assessments/Statements by setting out a range of measures to promote the use of alternative modes of travel to the private car to achieve a target modal share.  Travel Plans seek to encourage walking, cycling and the use of public transport for travel to and from sites, and other measures such as car sharing, homeworking, teleconferencing and internet shopping and home deliveries. Travel Plans also include a programme of annual monitoring surveys to identify travel patterns and identify whether targets are being met, and if not, remedial measures to increase use of other modes.
