Job Summary
Are you ready to take the next step in your career as a Civil Engineer? We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Civil Infrastructure Engineer to join our growing team in Edinburgh. In this role you’ll work within the Edinburgh team, alongside our Infrastructure teams across the company to help deliver a wide range of exciting projects.
Our client base is primarily (but not limited to) SME and large residential developers, with additional work in the renewable energy, local authority, commercial and industrial sectors.
We cover a wide range of residential projects from fifty homes to several thousand, including feasibility, masterplanning and planning applications through to detailed design and construction support.
You’ll join a team that specialises in sustainable drainage, earthworks assessments, highways and development infrastructure, working collaboratively with our Transport Planning, Flood Risk, Air Quality and Acoustics colleagues to deliver joined-up, sustainable solutions for our clients.
Where you’ll work
You will be based in our Edinburgh office located at 4-5 Lochside Way, Edinburgh Park.
Routine travel to site will form a part of your role, but we also support hybrid working, as well as offering a comprehensive and flexible remuneration package.
What we’re looking for
We’re seeking a proactive and collaborative engineer who thrives on solving problems and enjoys working as part of a supportive team. You’ll have a strong understanding of civil engineering design, excellent communication skills, and the confidence to liaise with contractors and stakeholders.
Your skills and experience will include:
- HNC, HND or degree in Civil Engineering.
- 3-5 years post-qualification experience in the industry.
- Chartered or working towards Chartership with a relevant institution (ICE, CIWEM, CIOB).
- Good technical knowledge and familiarity with guidance and regulations (Sewer Sector Guidance, Building Regulations, DMRB, CIRIA C753).
- Experience working on residential development schemes within a consultancy setting is beneficial.
- Proficiency in Causeway Flow/MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage and AutoCAD is essential; familiarity with Civil 3D and/or Site 3D is preferred.
- Understanding of the planning and technical approvals process, from feasibility to detailed design.
- Experience producing Drainage Impact Assessments and/or Surface Water Management Plans to support planning submissions.
- Excellent Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, including CDM 2015.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

What you’ll be doing
Supporting senior staff and colleagues with technical design tasks, ensuring work is delivered to a high standard, on time and within budget.
Preparing design drawings, calculations and technical reports that meet industry standards and quality assurance processes.
Developing concept and detailed sustainable drainage strategies.
Preparing levels strategies and earthworks appraisals.
Producing planning support documents (Surface Water Management plans, technical design notes).
Carrying out due diligence reviews to support land purchases.
Securing technical approvals for highways and drainage infrastructure.
Business Development opportunities, if desired.
